LONELY WOLF: LONDON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2021

WINTER RESULTS NEXT WEEK! Tuesday 15-Dec, save the date!

Hello Lonely Wolves,
Greeting you with a big howl from London! Owooooooo!!

I’ve been in back-to-back video call meetings the past five days with my various departmental head-judges to come to our final verdicts for the upcoming Winter competition round.

I sat down with Ares Sirvent (my head-judge on micro-shorts) and Hannah Brown (one of my film critics) this morning for our final meeting and we finally now have our top 8 nominees and grand winner for the micro-shorts category—an extremely competitive category in this upcoming round, we usually try to keep to a top 5 but it was simply impossible.

Got 2 final meetings left later on this week with Annie Knox (my head-judge on screenplays), so we come to those final unproduced screenplay winners; and Mooviehub CEO Bamtyn Wade who has returned as a guest judge for this final competition round of the year and has to reveal her final verdicts to me also.

This is a very quick email to get you pumped up and excited for results day is almost upon us! Winter is coming…

Next Tuesday 15-Dec will be results day.

I will follow-up in a few days to share the final schedule and activities we have planned for you as part of our digital festival experience next week.

Save the date, for it’s a going to be a phenomenon you’re not going to want to miss. Though this year has been one of solitude, next Tuesday we’re all going to come together as the big wolfpack family that we are to celebrate the microcosm we represent and the spectacular achievement you’ve all amounted to in the making of your films; productions many of you have had interrupted due to the pandemic, but here you are now and you should give yourself a massive pat on the back for making a film during this time is no easy task, it never is easy making a film!

Make no mistake, you’re all members of this wolfpack family and all of you are deserving of recognition, but as every competition demands—some are more deserving than others. I’ll have to take on the thankless task of turning down more of you than I’d like. Whatever happens next week, I stand by your achievement—my team and I have astronomical fascination for each one of you and your teams, your hard work and artistry.

For those of you who champion this round, feel extremely proud of what you have achieved—this upcoming round has seen 855 film projects in total. For those of you who don’t amount much success in this next round, remember competitions are not about winning—they’re about who keeps coming back. That is very key.
Whatever happens next week when we make the official announcements, I want you to watch the best films the competition has to offer, and walk away feeling inspired, full of clues/ideas, and eager to make your next film.

What makes Lonely Wolf so special is that win or lose, we put on a big show to engage and entertain you—from our suspenseful announcement process to our private digital cinema. Fuel yourself with positive energy from the festival vibe next Tuesday, immerse yourself in our digital cinema and programs.

I sincerely hope, whatever rank you land, that Lonely Wolf will find a special place in your heart next week and that you’ll feel inspired to come back to the competition ready to champion it, for this is the one to beat and a true test of your film's calibre.

I hope in a year where we can all agree we’ve been held back and made to feel a bit deflated, that we can come together and root for each other’s work as well as your own.

I’m extremely proud and excited to host Lonely Wolf’s 2020 Winter competition round next week.

Get ready to watch some spectacular films and to record some selfie videos of you howling for us!

I’ll be in touch in a few days with more information.

For now, save the date! Next Tuesday 15-Dec, results day.

Very best of luck to all of you.
You have much to be proud of.
I’m your biggest fan.

A
