LONELY WOLF: LONDON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2021

Thank You To All 333 Directors Who Attended The Wolfpack Summit! Remember My Pokémon Analogy!

Thank You To All 333 Directors Who Attended The Wolfpack Summit! I'm sharing below my genius Pokémon analogy for those of you who missed it below, which seemed to have gone down really well!

I hope you can all read this email carefully soon.

Hello everybody!
I hadn’t anticipated such a great attendance turnout on the call and so much participation in the Q&A chat! I wasn’t able to answer that many on the spot but I’ve downloaded the transcript from the summit, will go through all your questions and figure out the best collective approach to give you my best answers for all of them, such superb questions and I’d be most thrilled to shed some light soon on a lot of these thematic and industry questions and points raised.
You’re such a talented extraordinary wolfpack, I’m so thrilled you’re all here and engaging with Lonely Wolf to the max! I’ve received such a lot of recurring phenomenal feedback from so many of you from our festival’s website design and aesthetic, to my communications and approach, to the calibre of the films, to the fact that Lonely Wolf is a bigger league and you feel so proud and are excited to compete again soon, and improve on your already-phenomenal talents and skillset. I’m just in awe of the response and feedback.
THANK YOU to every single one of you for trusting us to your work, and all 333 of you who attended the wolfpack summit so we could share our professional feedback and wisdom!

I know I ran over and we had some technical hiccups,
My head-judge Ares Sirvent made me aware some of you (27 of you I think?) were in a ‘queue’ unable to get in! For that I deeply apologise! I don’t know what happened exactly for that to have happened?
Don’t despair, for I’ll aim to get the recorded summit masterclass relayed to you all by Friday so you can watch it back at your leisurely pace and digest a lot of our analysis and criteria on what made the very top films of the competition so special.
I hope you have a blast watching through the top films of the competition on our digital cinema and streaming rooms throughout Christmas.
Congratulations to all the champions!

As was discussed on the call, films like Lost And Spaced (dir: Roozbeh Tavakoli) + Streamer (dir: Jared Bratt, Vincent Pun) were produced on a zero budget and skeleton crew and amounted astronomical success with little resource. A lot of you are worried and feeling a bit hopeless about gaining financing during the Pandemic, look to these two stellar examples as to how you don’t need much financing to amount to much success. And I’m sure there are many more of you out there whose films are great representatives too, huge congratulations for continuing to nurture your creativity and passion for filmmaking.

On the total opposite end of the spectrum, we discussed the epic feature film Shibil directed by 19-year-old talented Bulgarian director Nikola Bozadshiev (19! Yes! You heard me correctly!) + Ocean Souls (dir: Philip Hamilton, Scott Wilson): tremendous production achievement in its underwater coverage alone, superb examples of the level of ambition we can amount to if we work towards it! Wow!

We discussed at least 20 of the top film projects to some depth.

Tomorrow Mooviehub CEO Bamtyn Wade is going to be uncovering her Top 5 Picks from our Winter edition with me live on Instagram at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST! You can’t miss it!

A selection of the top films from the Winter competition are exhibited on the digital cinema (DRM-protected, member-only password login) and some scattered throughout our streaming rooms (essentially curated programmes/masterclasses). If you haven’t been featured anywhere yet, it’s a good thing, your work is of a high calibre, deserved to be recognised and we’ll find ways to include you in one of our programmes in the future!

I’ll never get tired of saying it, I said it various times on the summit and throughout my communications.
A lot of you produced phenomenal work this year and weren’t far off from making selection, I used the “Pokémon” analogy on the call which a lot of you seemed to have liked and is very true! Lonely Wolf, is thanks to all of you and your participation, a big league; and a lot of you come from district battles with your Pokémons and in this league your superpowers shocked you in that maybe they weren’t enough. Remember what I said, it doesn’t mean your work wasn’t phenomenal, for it was, but this is a competition, and decisions must be made. You are and will always be a star.
So I hope you love the festival’s platform and philosophy to now think, okay, I need to acquaint myself with the calibre of the films that made it far, and improve on how amazing I already am so I can win next time. We are your wolfpack family now and we’ll continue working hard on our festival platform so it’s full of education resources and spectacular films to help you grow and learn, and just feel awe-inspired.

I’m an ever growing Pokémon myself and I will take all your feedback onboard to make Lonely Wolf ten times better in the Spring.
I love you all.
Remember Lonely Wolf is about who keeps coming back.
Congratulations to all the champions and all the superstars, for you are much loved and I can’t wait to witness your Pokémon evolution! (I hope this Pokémon analogy goes down well here in writing as it did on the summit call! Haha).

Phenomenal work everybody, what a worthy competition we just hosted. You should feel extremely proud.
Remember we are live with Mooviehub tomorrow!
Send us your howl if you haven’t yet and drop us comments in whichever of our social platforms you prefer to let us know what you think of some of the films you’re watching!

Oh before I forget we’re running a limited promotion window until this Friday 18-Dec in case you’d like to join our early pool of submissions for Spring 2021.
Here’s the discount code = SPRINGWOLF40 (expires Friday at midnight GMT).

IMDb is getting updated as we speak, give us until Friday hopefully all wins/nominations will sync up on your film pages by then (for those of you who this applies to and who have an existing film page already).

Howl and out!
Owooooooooo!!

A

(P.s. I should mention also very quickly, if you didn’t have your final status confirmed and can’t spot yourself anywhere, it’s probably because you submitted your project on or after the 1-Dec and that means you are competing in Spring 2021!).
